Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, explained that the country is still significantly dependent on the technologies of hostile foreign states. This is about Medvedev aforementioned Science and Education Presidency Council Presidency meeting.
Medvedev noted that despite the results achieved, in general, a rather serious dependence on foreign technologies remains, mainly manufacturers from “not very friendly for us” countries. Medvedev emphasized that after these countries declared a technological blockade on Russia, access to such products has either become much more complicated or is completely closed. Therefore, the main task in the current conditions is to meet the needs of science in the “most critical positions” as soon as possible.
In this context, the Vice-Chairman of the Security Council pointed to the importance of hard work to replace foreign equipment with domestic counterparts. Medvedev urged discussion of additional solutions that may be necessary to achieve technological independence. He believes such decisions should include funding issues, changes in the regulatory framework, and “issues of responsibility for achieving planned results.”
