Apple is preparing to unveil its first Reality Pro mixed reality headset at the WWDC developer conference, which will take place on June 5-9, 2023. However, the company is also preparing for the problems experienced in the production of the device, informs The Wall Street Journal cites sources close to the company.
The Reality Pro headset will combine the capabilities of augmented and virtual reality, allowing users to immerse themselves in virtual worlds through screens with glasses, as well as to see the physical world around them through outdoor cameras. The headset will have a ski goggle-style design and will be connected to an external battery.
According to WSJ, Apple is already preparing for the presentation of the headset at WWDC and is working on a demo version of the device. However, the launch of the headset for a wide audience is expected not before the fall of 2023. Mass production of the gadget is scheduled for December.
However, sources say Apple and its suppliers are concerned about possible delays in production due to the difficulty of integrating the headset with the new software and market demand. In addition, the high price of the headset, which is estimated at 3 thousand dollars (about 231.6 thousand rubles), may scare many users.
The WSJ also confirmed that Apple plans to host several developer sessions during WWDC to create software for the new headset.
