In 2024, the base models of Apple smartphones will not receive the larger screens that will be equipped with Pro version devices. In this respect informs MacRumors cites Ross Young, founder and insider of Display Supply Chain Consultants.
According to Yang’s previous source, Apple plans to equip the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max with larger 6.3- and 6.9-inch displays in 2024. Now, Young explained in a chat with MacRumors that this improvement won’t apply to the base models of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.
MacRumors noted that the 6.3- and 6.9-inch displays are the largest Apple has ever used on the iPhone. The use of new matrices will require a redesign of smartphones, so journalists hope that in 2024 Apple will be able to noticeably work outside the iPhone Pro. In a pinch, Apple could reduce bezel thickness and squeeze larger displays into current form factors.
The decision to use magnified screens only on Pro edition smartphones will most likely lead to counterfeit devices. Thus, the price gap between the base iPhone and iPhone Pro will increase even more, which may encourage the sale of more affordable devices.
