During the May holidays, there was an increase in DDoS attacks against Russian cultural institutions, ticket reservation services and transport systems. This was told socialbites.ca by the company’s experts in the StormWall field of information security.
According to StormWall, from May 1 to May 2023, DDoS attacks against culture increased by 62%, online services for ticket and hotel reservations increased by 36%, and attacks against transportation systems increased by 28% compared to the same period last year.
“A large number of attacks were observed, especially on May 9, Victory Day,” the company’s experts said. According to them, hackers of Ukraine’s IT army were behind these attacks, trying to pamper the rest of the Russians for the May holidays. It is reported that many organizations could not repel the attacks because their sites were inaccessible for a while.
“Hactivists once again surprised with their creativity. This time they chose organizations that supplied the rest of the Russians during the May holidays and were able to launch devastating attacks. “We warned Russian companies that it is necessary to monitor attacks on the organization’s resources in order to avoid problems even on holidays,” said Ramil Khantimirov, CEO and co-founder of StormWall.
