Google CEO Sameer Samat mocked Apple’s rivals’ messaging problems between iPhones and Android devices at a tech company conference. It has been reported business insider.

“When you’re texting in a group chat, you don’t have to worry about whether everyone is using the same type of smartphone,” said a senior company executive, prompting laughter and applause from the audience.

He hinted again at Apple, pointing out that sending high-quality images and videos, receiving typing notifications, and end-to-end encryption should work the same for all devices and across companies.

“We hope every mobile OS understands this and embraces RCS. [Rich Communication Services]he said, pausing as the crowd cheered loudly. In this way, Google once again pressured Apple to adopt the new RCS messaging standard for a competitor, according to journalists.

The lack of RCS support in iMessage prevents iOS and Android smartphone users from freely sharing files with each other. Currently, they can only send text messages to each other using SMS technology.

RCS was selected as a potential replacement for SMS in 2008. Unlike SMS, which works over the carrier’s network, RCS works over the Internet, which means it supports all multimedia messaging features and makes it easy to send GIFs and high-definition videos.

Apple CEO Tim Cook in September 2022 declarationthat the company has no plans to implement RCS on their smartphones. In response to criticism from one of the journalists for such a move, the CEO of the IT giant advised him to “buy his mother an iPhone.”
