Journalists talked about how Apple is constantly trying to catch insiders, from whom information about new gadgets and company services is leaked. It has been reported 9to5Mac.

“Some employees are leaking information, and even in a multi-layered system, some Apple secrets will be known to a significant number of people. When information is leaked, the Cupertino company has some pretty clever ways to do it,” the article states.

The company is working particularly hard to prevent the leakage of visual material: images of gadgets and sketches. Apple has found a way to give a unique file to each person who receives an image. Thus, in the event of a leak, it will be possible to track from whom the file reached the media or social networks.

Apple also uses invisible watermarks. There may be a pixel that appears completely black but is numbered #0D0D0D instead of #000000. “Such markings are indistinguishable with the naked eye,” the journalists said.

Another reason to never use original images is that it’s very easy for Apple to use unique filenames.

Another way to track down an insider and their source is through document serial numbers. For example, when Apple shares videos with employees, each video is watermarked with a number associated with the employee’s Apple Connect ID.

Apple has also flagged for subtle changes in font design, changes in wording or punctuation to better pinpoint the source of the leak, and misinformation in details. For example, change it to f/1.78’if/1.76.
