The attackers began pasting fake QR codes on electric scooters for rental purposes. In this respect informs RIA News.

Fraudulent QR codes can direct users to external sites where they risk losing their personal data or money. Representatives of Kicksharing companies Whoosh, Yurent and Yandex Go confirmed the existence of the problem to the agency and provided advice on how to avoid such a situation.

Representatives of companies recommend scanning QR codes on scooters only through the official applications of the services – the program only recognizes the correct signs and does not redirect to third-party resources.

It is also recorded that the services regularly check the rental scooters and remove foreign elements.

QR codes on scooters are used to start renting quickly: the user scans the tag via the app, thus informing which scooter they are renting.
