Apple has announced the removal of a vulnerability in AirPods and Beats headphones that allowed hackers to eavesdrop on users. In this respect informs MacRumors portal.

The document description states that firmware 5B66 released for Beats Fit Pro and Powerbeats Pro fixes a vulnerability that could allow an attacker to gain access to users’ headphones.

The issue also affected all AirPods, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max models, except for first-generation AirPods. However, Apple fixed the problem in branded accessories with the 5E133 update released last month. Then Apple released another 5E135 update for its headphones, but what changes the firmware brings is not reported.

AirPods and Beats headphones automatically update firmware when paired with iOS or macOS devices and charge when the device is in range. Android users can update Beats firmware using the app of the same name.
