According to the Central Bank of Russia, they have already received 2,000 applications from people who are victims or witnesses of such a fraudulent scheme. The attackers offer to transfer money to a “secure” account at the Central Bank or to impersonate their employees.
The Bank of Russia reminds that it does not serve individuals and does not call them. It also does not send copies of its documents by e-mail or other means.
The regulator advises citizens to be vigilant and not share their personal and financial data with strangers. If you have doubts about the security of the money in the account, you need to contact the bank yourself, using the number on the website or on the card.
