“Starting today, Google users can completely disable their passwords and two-factor authentication codes when signing in,” a spokesperson for the company said.

At the same time, Google assured that access keys are a safer and more convenient alternative to passwords. According to The Verge, they could replace traditional passwords and other sign-in systems like two-factor authentication or SMS verification in the near future.

The American company added that since there are no passwords that can be stolen as a result of a phishing attack, access keys are only found on devices that provide greater security and protection.
