Samsung has banned its employees from using chatbots like ChatGPT for business purposes after discovering a source code leak. It has been reported Bloomberg with reference to the internal correspondence of the brand.
The ban on the use of productive artificial intelligence (AI) covers company-owned tablets and smartphones, as well as internal networks. It does not apply to the brand’s devices such as Android smartphones and Windows-based laptops sold to customers.
Employees have been asked to carefully monitor the types of information they share with these chatbots, even when using personal devices, as they may unintentionally “share” private information or personal data with AI. Violators face dismissal.
The reason for the introduction of the new rules was the leak of Samsung’s internal source code, which was previously uploaded to ChatGPT. Permission was granted by a group of engineers in April of this year.
