A new type of car theft is gaining momentum in the United States, using old Nokia phones, including the legendary model 3310. This was noticed by the portal. Hi-Tech Mail.Ru.

These phones are used by attackers as a way to control the machine – for this they are re-flashed, equipped with the necessary technology, and then sold on the dark web. The cost of a phone with such a “secret” ranges from $ 2,000 to $ 19,000 (160,000 rubles to 1.5 million rubles).

The device does all the work for the hacker – all he has to do is unplug the two wires from the phone and plug them into the correct connectors in the car. In the video showing the hacking process, you can see how someone tried to start a Toyota car by pressing a button but couldn’t because they didn’t have the key. He takes out the Nokia, connects a cable to it, then selects the desired item in the menu of the device, and then all the locks on the car are removed and it starts.

This hack works on Toyota, Maserati, Land Cruiser and Lexus cars. With this method, it can take as little as 15 seconds for a thief to gain full access to the vehicle.
