Fake applications of popular Russian services, including RuStore and RuMarket, were noticed on Google Play. It was reported by the newspaper “Kommersant“.

The fakes are known to have logos similar to the logos of the original apps but do not have the same functionality, only displaying banner ads.

According to experts interviewed by Kommersant, the authors of such applications are actively adapting to the news agenda and playing around with restrictions for Russian developers. This prompts users to download the fake app by attracting attention. At the same time, many trust the Google Play store, believing that only verified services from well-known developers enter, but in reality this is not the case.
