Russian IT company Softline and officials of the Kaliningrad region are discussing the possibility of establishing a factory in the region for the assembly of laptops and other computer equipment. In this respect informs The publication “Vedomosti”, referring to Denis Saliy, head of the representation in Moscow of the government of the Kaliningrad region under the government of the Russian Federation.
According to Salia, the new factory may be engaged in the production of equipment both on its own and under contract. He stated that Kaliningrad is a suitable place for Softline as it is a special economic and customs zone. The special circumstances of the region will allow an IT company to save on taxes and import duties when purchasing components.
The final decision on the deployment of the enterprise has not yet been made. So far, the parties have planned the second round of negotiations for mid-summer 2023, during which the approximate cost of the project will be announced.
Saliya said that even if the deal is done, the production lines of the new factory will not be operational until 2025.
