Brazilian President Lula da Silva spoke at an event dedicated to school safety. She criticized parents who gave their children tablets to calm down.
“The games don’t talk about love, they don’t talk about education. They teach children to kill. And each time there are more deaths than in the Second World War. You just look at your children’s games,” said the politician.
He also referred to an incident in Brazil – in early April, a man with an ax attacked a kindergarten, killing four children. Police found no link between crime and online games, but one of the lawmakers suggested a temporary ban on violent games in the country.
Such a ban was introduced in Brazil already in 2008. Then, CS: Source disappeared from sales as the game was considered brutal and unhealthy. However, the government lifted the ban a year later.
