The American company Microsoft has begun testing new ads in the Start menu in some versions of the Windows operating system. According to this Sleep ComputerThe operating system now actively advises users to create a Microsoft account.

It has been noted that the ads began to be tested on pre-release versions of Windows from November 2022, but now a new version of the ads appears in the Start menu.

The call to create a Microsoft account, according to the portal, appeared in the pre-release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23435, which was released in March 2023.

The Redmond-based company has confirmed that ads are showing on Windows and users can leave feedback on the innovation.

“We’re experimenting with Start menu notifications by creating some new tips for users with local accounts. So we want to highlight the benefits of logging into a Microsoft account,” the American company added.

Currently, ads are showing in a drop-down submenu when you try to shut down your computer or sign out of a local account. Windows prompts you to sign in or create an account with your Microsoft account.
