Ilya Karpuk, director of Printeria SC, said in an interview with socialbites.ca that today there are a large number of fraud service centers in Russia, and most of the “schemes” in which users are cheated fall on home repairs.
“Usually, after an invitation to an official service and a request to leave the equipment for a while for diagnostics, hasty customers begin to search further and end up with advertisements in which all the entries are pasted – a private master, home repairs. Also, the scenarios for various types of services look roughly the same,” said Karpuk.
So the customer calls a repairman who “does something”, lets him sign a particular document, and at the end of the job gives a check for a large amount. The choice of amount, according to the expert, depends on the arrogance and experience of the scammers. The cost of the service fits in later, as customers sign a document before the job is done due to inexperience.
“Such specialists call themselves “checorubs.” Then they share their achievements in interest groups – who chopped how much in one day. A particularly “skilled”, discouraged customer even took the repair item until he settled with them. At the same time, the repair areas may be different – electronics , tools or household appliances, ”the expert shared.
To reduce the chance of falling into the hands of scammers, Karpuk recommends contacting only trusted service centers. In the event that you contact the “single masters”, you should at least study the reviews, and also not sign any transactions before the work is completed.
