Japan’s Cabinet Secretary General Hirokazu Matsuno said that the Japanese government currently has no plans to take any action to regulate the use of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence-based chatbot. It has been reported TASS.
“We have no intention of introducing appropriate regulation at this time,” Matsuno said.
Sanae Takaichi, Japan’s minister of economic security, said the country “has no intention of immediately banning or otherwise regulating the use of ChatGPT and other AI-based programs.” It also noted that there is a risk of information leakage due to the way such services are used and that “measures to reduce this risk should be considered”.
Earlier, the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) announced that it had launched a preliminary investigation against the owner of the US company OpenAI, which developed the ChatGPT chatbot.
At the same time, it is stated that the Spanish regulator has asked the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) to activate the ChatGPT service for consideration at its plenary session.
