94-year-old engineer Martin Cooper, creator of the world’s first mobile phone, admitted that he is still a big fan of new technologies. Portal reports Gizchina.
Cooper says he’ll never be able to control modern smartphones like his grandchildren do, but he still gets himself a new iPhone model every year. He also uses his Apple Watch smartwatch on a daily basis.
The engineer added that it is difficult for him to cope with a large number of various mobile applications, therefore he uses the smartphone mainly for communication – calls and SMS messages.
Martin Cooper went down in history as the man who developed the world’s first mobile phone. In addition, he was the first to make a call from such a device – this was the Motorola DynaTAC device, which weighed almost 800 grams. On April 3, 1973, Cooper called Joel Angel of rival AT&T Bell Laboratories and triumphantly announced that he was using a “personal, handheld, portable phone.”
