Microsoft has started sending notifications to Windows 10 users that one of the popular operating system versions will be ending soon. Portal reports Neowin.
We’re talking about Windows 10 21H2 – Windows 10 Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations will no longer receive official updates on June 13, 2023. The last update for these versions will also be released in June.
This also means that the aforementioned variants of Windows 10 will no longer receive monthly security patches that protect against existing cyber threats. Microsoft has urged users of these systems to immediately upgrade to newer versions of Windows 10 or Windows 11 so that they do not become potential victims of hackers and store all their data.
It is known that in March 2023, the share of Windows 11 among PC users exceeded 20%. Meanwhile, Windows 10 remains the most popular among Microsoft customers – currently 73.5% of PC owners use Windows 10.
