A prospective accountant was unemployed in the spring of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but was able to secure a similar position at an IT company after lying on her resume about her knowledge of work experience and programs. He talked about his actions business insider.
“I have a child and at that moment I decided to be home for him in a mess like a pandemic. But I also knew that when I wanted to go back to work, I would look worse because I had no work experience in the last 18 months. I lied a little too,” he said.
According to the employee, she decided not to leave a big gap in her resume, so she came up with a name for a consulting firm and told about her real activities. But in reality, he only helped his friends with their accounts and bookkeeping.
“You’d think the company’s HR department would call the company I found, but apparently they haven’t. Nobody asked me that,” he added.
The applicant admitted that he had also lied about his knowledge of certain software. “I’ve never used this program before, but I’ve decided not to quit. I wrote in my resume that I was familiar with this software, and then I studied YouTube videos on how to use it, ”explained the expert.
According to him, the lie in his resume helped him get a job, and at the moment he successfully copes with his duties. “If anyone else had asked me if I thought they would do the same, I would have said, “Absolutely.” It’s worth it,” the employee concluded.
