Apple will release iOS 17 in 2024, and its benefits will not be available to millions of iPhone and iPad users worldwide. In this respect informs MacRumors version.

With the release of almost every new version of iOS and iPadOS, Apple reduces the list of supported devices to excluding the oldest models. This year, iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 won’t be able to install most devices with A11 Bionic processors and older, according to a MacRumors source.

This means that the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, the revolutionary iPhone X, as well as the 9.7-inch iPad, 12.9-inch first-generation iPad Pro and fifth-generation base iPad will remain without a future update. The exceptions will be sixth- and seventh-generation iPads, as well as the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch second-generation iPad Pros, according to MacRumors. The fact is that all these devices are based on mid-generation Bionic A10 Fusion and Bionic A10X Fusion processors.

Last year, many more devices lost Apple support with the release of iOS 16. Namely, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, original iPhone SE and several iPad models.

Apple is expected to announce iOS 17 on June 5 at WWDC 23.

Formerly socialbites.ca Wrote Apple will only equip base iPhones with 120Hz displays by 2025.
