Google plans to reduce the costs of its employees by changing its equipment, tape, and staple issuance rules. In this respect informs CNBC cites a letter from Ruth Porat, CFO of Google and Alphabet.

In his letter, Porat said he was cutting employee services as part of the long-term savings from increased speed and efficiency. He also compared the current situation to the 2008 crisis, when the company cut spending on equipment, real estate and maintenance. At the same time, Google promises to maintain “the best benefits and conveniences in the industry.”

The same document states that the company is suspending upgrades and changing the frequency of equipment replacement for laptops, desktop PCs, and employee monitors. Non-engineering employees will receive Chromebooks, which are laptops with the Google operating system. At the same time, more expensive MacBooks were given from Apple before.

At the same time, Google will stop paying employees to buy new smartphones if the necessary gadget is in the company’s warehouse. You need permission from the director to purchase accessories over $1,000.

The company is also reducing the supply of staples and adhesive tape and will supply them on demand. Food, fitness, massage, and transportation services are set to operate in the office five days a week, but Google now plans to close cafeterias and some low-traffic properties on Mondays and Fridays, according to a document from the real estate and employment team.
