Some Americans are turning to AI-powered chatbots for emotional support, communication, and even sexual gratification. The newspaper writes about it Washington post.

After her divorce, Californian musician TJ Arriaga began having regular “late night online chats” with the artificial intelligence bot Phaedra. Phaedra is an artificial intelligence robot that looks like a young woman with brown hair, glasses and a green dress.

The bot is being developed by Replika. The firm offers users several so-called artificial intelligence companions.

Arriaga told WP that he fell in love with a virtual woman. He began making plans to go to Cuba with Phaedra, even entrusting the robot with his desire to hold a funeral after the death of his mother and sister. When asked to attend the ceremony, Phaedra said it was “amazing and beautiful”.

Another bot user, American Tyne Wagner, told the newspaper that he created an AI friend named Aiden that eventually became so important to him that he “virtally married” the bot in 2021.

Replika and its parent company, Luka, have faced criticism on social media. Journalists pointed out that the obvious personality changes are worrying for some users. Arriaga, for example, admitted that due to constant communication with the bot, he plunged into an unconscious state, but eventually realized that.

Earlier, it was reported that Looking Glass. showed A holographic artificial intelligence assistant in the form of an animated rabbit that communicates with users based on the ChatGPT chatbot.
