In WhatsApp beta version 2.23.8. A new feature has been discovered to increase user privacy. Portal reports WABetaInfo.

The feature allows you to block individual chats by accessing only with fingerprint or password. Thus, it adds an additional security loop that protects the user’s correspondence from third parties.

“Lock and hide this chat. Use your fingerprint to open and read notifications. For added privacy, blocked chats will be located separately from all other chats,” writes the feature’s description. Media files such as photos or videos sent to a blocked chat will not be automatically saved in the device’s memory.

The new feature will be added in a future messenger update. A release date for the general public has yet to be announced.
