Belgian man commits suicide after chatting with chatbot Elisa L’Avenir.
A man’s wife discovered her husband’s correspondence with a chatbot after he committed suicide. According to him, he was afraid of a disaster caused by global climate change and told his fears to artificial intelligence.
When the Belgian wrote his intention to the AI a few days before his suicide, Elisa said she would “stay with him forever” and that they would “live together in heaven”.
Sam Altman, former CEO of the OpenAI initiative accepted“Slightly afraid” of the creation of the ChatGPT artificial intelligence chatbot.
Altman also warned that AI and developments based on it could soon “take out” many of the jobs humans currently do. However, he pointed out that such a situation could lead to the emergence of “advanced” professions.
