The Seoul government used artificial intelligence (AI) technology to automatically detect and monitor digital sex crimes around the clock. In this respect informs Yonhap News agency.

City Digital Sex Crimes Center has implemented an artificial intelligence-based monitoring system developed by the Seoul Institute of Technology to automatically search, delete and prevent recirculation of sexual abuse videos on social media.

Officials said the program’s deep learning technology is able to quickly track all social media sexual abuse videos of a victim, replacing manual monitoring by comprehensively analyzing acoustic, visual and textual information.

According to city officials, the system cuts the time required to complete such a task from two hours to three minutes. At the same time, the accuracy and speed of the algorithm increases as the system collects data in the future. It will also help reduce the trauma and stress of victims, as the computer system, not humans, will process the victims’ obscene videos.

It was noted that the center for combating sexually-based digital crimes has been operating for about a year. During this time, he helped 402 crime victims. More than half of them were minors.
