Apple employees are unsure whether the brand’s AR headset, which will be announced this summer, will be successful. newspaper reports New York Times.
NYT spoke to the company’s Cupertino employees and learned that some were very skeptical about the new device. In particular, they believe that the high price of the gadget (rumored to be at least $ 3,000 or almost 230,000 rubles) and dubious scenarios for its use will frighten a potential buyer.
“Unlike the iPod, which lets people put digital songs in their pocket, and the iPhone, which combines the power of a music player and phone, [новой] headphones aren’t quite that transparent yet,” writes the New York Times.
According to the newspaper, uncertainty and skepticism about the AR headset led to the departure of several top executives of the company in 2019, including Apple chief designer Jony Ive and later successor Evans Hankey.
Apple’s augmented reality headset is expected to debut at WWDC in June 2023.
