Cameron Perrin, a California programmer, said he learned how to deal with procrastination at work thanks to “monk mode,” which involves focusing heavily on one task for a short period of time. Shared tips on getting back to work business insider.
The 26-year-old IT officer revealed that he easily procrastinates and loses attention to a work task. “I caught myself surfing social media, reading articles, or surfing the web aimlessly,” he said.
He went into “monk mode” to combat this behavior at work. “It’s about focusing on what’s important and making the most of your time — starting small and building activity over time,” Perrin said.
The programmer tried the new working method for the first time in February 2022. “I started with two-hour periods of high concentration. To prepare, I eliminated distractions as much as I could: I turned off notifications on my phone and blocked social networking sites on my laptop,” the American said.
He said performance results are visible almost instantly. “I completed more tasks in a day than I used to do in a week. And I actually worked fewer hours! I finished my workday in about six to seven hours instead of working nine to ten hours, Perrin said.
