Valve officially introduced Counter-Strike 2

Valve Company published Several videos dedicated to Counter-Strike 2 on the YouTube channel.

As can be seen from the promotional videos, Counter-Strike 2 will be built on the Source 2 engine. The developers promise to improve the clickthrough rate (the speed of receiving and sending packet data from the game client to the server and vice versa). Add new mechanics including map graphics and updating smoke grenades.

Valve added that thanks to the new engine, they were able to improve the quality of lighting and make a physically believable rendering system that creates realistic textures, lights and reflections.

Limited tests of Counter-Strike 2 will begin on March 22, and the game will be released in the summer of 2023. It is stated that the new section will be a free update for CS:GO owners.

Rumors of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s switch to the Source 2 engine started appearing on the net in the spring of 2023.
