“Izvestia”: subscribers of millionaire bloggers fell victim to scammers with “cheap” iPhones

Russian subscribers of millionaire bloggers and participants of the Dom-2 show became victims of scammers advertising a fake Apple store at “special” prices. It was reported by the newspaper “News“.

The store has launched an ad campaign featuring popular bloggers and influencers talking about “direct delivery” of Apple devices from the US and 2-3x lower prices. The video ad was placed in the “stories” of the social network Instagram (the owner of the Meta company was considered extremist in Russia and was banned).

After making the purchase, the prepaid vehicles did not come to the victims. It was reported that each of them transferred 15 thousand rubles to the scammers. The number of victims living in different regions of Russia up to 100 thousand rubles is in the tens. The cybercriminals themselves have yet to be found.

The bloggers with whom Izvestia managed to communicate stated that the advertiser “cheated” them. According to the article, it is stated that they can only be held administratively responsible. 14.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses “Violation of advertising legislation.” In order to be held criminally liable, the person must prove that he knows that he is doing business with scammers and is deliberately deceiving his subscribers.
