In the near future, the American IT company Meta (known and banned in Russia as extremist) will lay off 10,000 employees, or about 13% of all staff. In this respect informs The New-York Times (NYT) edition cites a statement from the company’s president, Mark Zuckerberg.
Discounts will affect the company’s technical and business groups, as well as the hiring division. The first division will lose some of its workforce this week, and the restructuring of the other two is scheduled for April and May, respectively.
Alongside the layoffs, Meta plans to slow the pace of hiring new employees. It is alleged that the company plans to withdraw about 5,000 vacancies from the broadcast.
“It will be difficult, but there is no other way out,” Zuckerberg told the NYT.
The wave of layoffs announced on Meta is the second in six months. The company announced the first mass layoffs in November 2022. Then 11,000 people were laid off.
