In the past few weeks, phone calls from scammers pretending to be employees of sanctioned banks have become more frequent. It was reported by the newspaper “News“.
The plan works like this – the attacker calls the victim and tells them that their funds must be withdrawn to a “safe” account immediately, as the main account has been frozen due to sanctions. According to a survey conducted by the financial market Vyberu.ru, in March 30% of Russians complained of such calls.
According to the company’s commercial director, Yaroslav Bajurak, modern scammers follow the agenda and come up with new plans based on current political and economic events.
“Now bank customers are more cautious and it is already difficult for the Sberbank Security Service to mislead someone, so scammers are looking for new excuses to withdraw funds. In an age of economic turbulence, they have “a lot of material for creativity,” and intrigue is born every day, Bajurak said.
