Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted a new version of the Apple HomePod speaker next year that will receive a 7-inch touchscreen. Portal reports Border.
According to Kuo, the new device will “provide a closer connection with other Apple devices”, which will mark a “major shift in the company’s strategy for smart home devices.” It’s possible that the column functions as a remote control for a smart home, similar to Google’s Nest Hub or Amazon’s Echo Shows.
Current HomePods also have a small, round screen at the top, but their functionality is limited – in fact, it only protrudes to show various indicators.
In January of this year, Bloomberg reported that Apple is working on some kind of smart home controller that can make FaceTime calls. It will also be equipped with special magnetic holders that will allow you to hang it on the wall. It is possible that we are talking about the same device that Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned.
