Apple won’t be introducing the Face ID under-display face scanner to iPhone smartphones until at least 2025, and maybe longer. Portal reports MacRumors citing the words of renowned analyst Ross Young.
Young initially believed that the first iPhone with Face ID placed under the screen would appear as early as 2024, but now that date has been pushed back at least a year due to “sensor issues.” If that turns out to be true, the conditional iPhone 17 Pro could be the first iPhone to have a sub-screen Face ID. Some analysts believe that thanks to this solution, this iPhone will come to light without any cutouts at the top of the screen.
Young’s new content reportedly contradicts material from The Elec portal, which claims that the under-display Face ID sensor will be available on the iPhone 16 Pro model next year. Meanwhile, as noted by MacRumors, Ross Young is often very accurate in his predictions and leaks, so this technology is likely to be delayed for a few more years.
