From March 2023, Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Germany will be able to use Mercedes Pay+ to pay for digital services using a fingerprint scanner. In this respect informs engine online portal.

It is stated that the innovation is already working on German cars of the EQS, EQE, S-class, C-class and GLC series. Mercedes Pay+ works by integrating Visa Delegated Authentication and Cloud Token Framework technologies into the vehicle system, which provide an additional layer of security to protect users’ payment data.

With the help of the MBUX multimedia system, owners of modern Mercedes cars can use fingerprints to pay for various digital services or unlock new functions in the car. This allows you to develop the tool quickly and safely, even after purchase. It also announced the possibility of paying for fuel and charging electric vehicles – this function will work in the near future. Currently, Mercedes owners in Germany and some other countries can pay for fuel using a PIN code in the Mercedes me app or via the MBUX system.

To pay with fingerprint in MBUX, a driver must have a Visa credit or debit card, which must be linked to an account in the Mercedes me app. It was not reported whether the service’s operation is planned to be extended to Mastercard cardholders.
