Windows 11 will have an updated volume mixer. In this respect informs The Verge provides an overview of the new test build number 25309, which was distributed as part of the Windows 11 Insider Dev program.

Judging by the test version mentioned, the new mixer will be located in the Windows Quick Settings panel, next to the system tray. It will also be possible to open it by holding down the new Win + Ctrl + V hotkey combination.

The updated mixer will allow users to quickly switch between active audio outputs such as headphones and speakers, and audio distribution technologies such as Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos. In addition, it will be possible to adjust the volume separately in each running application.

It has not been reported exactly when the updated mixer will make its way into the release version of Windows 11. This probably won’t happen anytime soon, as not everyone has access to the new functionality yet, even among testers.
