Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 foldable smartphone will feature a brand new hinge system. Portal reports Border.
The new hinge is called a “teardrop” because of its rounded shape. It is assumed that this design will make the gadget thinner and reduce the “fold” in the middle of the screen when the smartphone is turned on.
Samsung is reportedly testing the new hinge with 200,000 fold benchmarks, which the company will take about 4-5 days. After this threshold is exceeded, the hinge should retain at least 85% of its original tightness and strength.
While Samsung is actively working on innovation and introducing them to the next generation of smartphones, The Verge editors expressed regret that the hinge’s durability will likely remain at the level of its predecessor. Against Oppo, a competitor promises the Find N2 and Find N2 Flip devices by about 400,000 times, while the South Korean seller offers the consumer twice as modest.
The new smartphones Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 are expected to be released in the summer of 2023.
