From August 2022 to February 2023, the number of neural network users in Russia increased fivefold. In this respect informs publication “Vedomosti”, which refers to the analytical data of the mobile operator Tele2.

The stated result was obtained by analyzing the Internet traffic of its subscribers on Tele2 to free and available online services in Russia based on artificial intelligence that generates pictures, music and text. We’re talking platforms like Stable Diffusion, AIVA, Smodin, and more. The popular Midjourney, Lensa and ChatGPT are not included in the statistics because they are either paid or do not work in the Russian Federation.

MegaFon told Vedomosti reporters that the most popular “creative” neural network in Russia is Mubert. The top 3 also included ruDALL-E and AIVA.

Back at Tele2, they examined the demographics of neural network users. It turned out that among the audience of the discussed services, women (54%) were slightly more than men (46%). The most active age group is the 31-40 age category. Most users of neural networks are in Moscow (18%) and St. Petersburg (8%). Also in the top five were Krasnodar (5%), Chelyabinsk (4%) and Perm (3%).

Experts believe that the news agenda and Telegram influenced the popularity of neural networks in the Russian Federation. The messenger is here, although there are many bots that facilitate interaction with artificial intelligence services. In addition, the content generated by the algorithms is also mostly distributed on Telegram.
