Roskomnadzor has blocked Shutterstock, one of the world’s largest photo storage services, in Russia. In this respect informs The publication Sostav refers to the agency Fotodom (FD), the exclusive representative of the Shutterstock photobank in Russia and the CIS countries.
Fotodom explained to Sostav journalists that the problems with accessing Shutterstock from Russia, which the media noticed in the first half of February 28, were due to “partial blocking of the site by Roskomnadzor”. According to the agency, the reason for the block was “placement of material that does not meet current requirements.”
Fotodom said that Shutterstock management had already removed the material and reported this to the Russian editor. The agency assures that the photobank will resume its work in Russia in three days. It is not reported what materials Roskomnadzor paid attention to.
It was noted that Shutterstock was blocked for the second time in the Russian Federation. According to Fotodom, the service was first blocked a few months ago and the issue was quickly resolved.
