In 2022, Russia’s share of the global smartphone market was 2.3%, which is 0.3% less than last year’s result. Thus, Russia fell from the sixth place to the eighth place in the ranking of the largest importing countries. This was announced in the new analytical report published by the company GS Group (at the disposal of socialbites.ca).

According to GS Group, in 2022 Russia imported 35.4 million mobile phones, 21% less than last year. Of these, 78% are smartphones and 22% are devices with buttons. The number of imported smartphones decreased by 22% year on year, while the number of push-button phones decreased by 19%.

Analysts attribute the market decline to the temporary cessation of product deliveries to the Russian Federation in the spring of 2022. At the same time, they believe that in 2023 the market will return to its previous indicators and Russia will take 2.5% on the world stage.

GS Group also pointed out that there was a strong rotation in price categories last year. Thus, the share of the lower segment (up to 10 thousand rubles) increased from 32% to 39%. At the same time, the upper segment (more expensive than 30 thousand rubles) fell from 19% to 13%. The leader with a share of 48% remains the middle price segment (from 10 to 30 thousand rubles).

At the end of 2022, Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung, Tecno and Apple became the market leaders.

Formerly socialbites.ca Wrote That in 2023 domestic production of smartphones will appear in Russia.
