A fire at Foxlink’s iPhone charging cable factory in India could disrupt Apple’s global smartphone shipments. In this respect informs Reuters agency.
The fire broke out in the Chittoor district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh on the night of February 27-28. As a result of the incident, part of the building completely collapsed. Four out of 10 production lines were severely damaged. No casualties among the people.
The six surviving lines will only be able to continue operating by the end of this week – after the event, IT systems and servers need to be restored. Seriously damaged lines will take approximately two months to repair.
The Chittoor factory is said to be Apple’s main supplier in India. Due to an interruption in its work, problems may arise in the supply of iPhones in all regions where Apple smartphones manufactured in India are imported.
It was noted that in addition to the burned factory in Apple, there are about ten more businesses in India.
