Seven former employees of a Samsung subsidiary were found guilty of stealing technology related to semiconductor manufacturing and transferring it to Chinese competitors. newspaper reports The Wall Street Gazette.

The fact of theft was recorded in 2020, but the decision was made only now. An employee was sentenced to four years in prison for stealing proprietary technology from the company he used to make similar equipment and sell it to China. In total, 24 drawings were created and on the basis of them 14 machines were built, with a total cost of 59.8 million dollars.

Six more workers were found guilty as accomplices in the theft – they received various prison terms of up to 2.5 years. South Korea, where Samsung is headquartered, is known to see the semiconductor industry as “national key technology”.
