In February, on the eve of the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and International Women’s Day, the number of fraudulent domains on the Russian Internet has increased significantly, which already leads or will lead to scam sites. This was reported to socialbites.ca by Angara Security data visualization specialist Victoria Varlamova.
“If we compare the January and February 2023 dynamics, then there is an obvious increase: a 35% increase in the number of phishing domains,” said Varlamova.
According to him, the words “flowers” (“flowers”), “love” (“love”) and podarok are most often found in such connections. In addition, scammers actively use the names of popular brands and marketplaces such as Wildberry, Eldorado, Ozon. Banks are often mentioned.
“As a rule, these are all phishing sources designed to steal money and personal data or infect victims’ devices with malware,” said the expert.
According to Varlamova, some of the phishing domains found by Angara Security experts have already been blocked by Roskomnadzor or providers. However, there are so many that some links are still in the public domain.
