Tesla co-founder Martin Eberhard has been harshly critical of current CEO Elon Musk’s autopilot approach to electric cars. Portal reports business insider.
Musk’s over-enthusiasm for self-driving technology could be dangerous for the company, according to Eberhard. “Don’t think of a car as a software platform. This is not the iPhone for you,” said the businessman.
According to him, his personal iPhone often receives system updates due to bugs. This angers Eberhard, but it’s usually harmless.
“But if such a bug occurs in the software that controls the brakes or steering wheel, for example, it could kill you,” Eberhard warned.
He added that people should stop perceiving autopilot technology as an integral part of modern electric cars. “I would like to see the cars people drive,” said Tesla’s co-founder.
