Apple has updated the firmware for the charging cable from the MacBook

Apple has released an encrypted firmware update for the MacBook’s two-metre MagSafe 3 charging cable. In this respect informs Apple Insider version.

Usually, Apple doesn’t provide descriptions of updates for accessories, and the case with the MagSafe 3 cable was no exception. All that is known about the new firmware is that it bears the name 10M1543.

Apple Insider suggests that the update improves the performance and security of the cable. Also, the update may be responsible for expanding the list of devices compatible with the accessory.

By default, the MagSafe 3 type cable is only supported on the 2022 M2-based MacBook Air and 2021 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

There are no special steps required to update the MagSafe 3 firmware. The wire will update itself when connected to one of the devices listed above.
