An engineer from China has independently created a special iPhone smartphone with two charging ports at once – proprietary Lightning and USB-C, which are widely used in Android smartphones. It has been reported 9to5Mac.
In the video, the expert demonstrated adding a second port to his iPhone by placing the USB-C connector to the right of the existing Lightning port. It also showed that both ports are fully functional, meaning they can transfer data and charge the device’s battery.
Users of the Reddit forum supported the engineer’s idea. One jokingly pointed out the advantage of the two-port design in the comments. “You can now use headphones and charge your smartphone at the same time, just like in 2016,” he wrote.
The thing is, with the release of the iPhone 7, Apple removed the standard headphone jack, which in the early years became a problem for users accustomed to wired headphones.
According to unofficial information, on the iPhone 15, the Cupertino company will abandon Lightning in favor of a universal USB-C connector.
