It is noted that the function does not work yet – there is no corresponding page in the settings. Also, according to the expert, it will be possible to transfer eSIM between different devices in Android 14.
As an expert discovered, the function of formatting a physical SIM card to an eSIM only works for users of carriers that support conversion. It is also unknown how to implement the eSIM transfer function between devices.
It is also not entirely clear whether the innovation will be exclusive to the Google Pixel smartphones where this feature was discovered, or whether the conversion to eSIM will work on other Android devices.
Rumor has it that the full release of Android 14 will take place in the summer or autumn of 2023.
