Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has explained why he doesn’t see himself as a hypocrite, as he regularly uses his private jet to fly while advocating climate change measures on the planet. It has been reported business insider.
The businessman was asked how he would react to someone who called him a hypocrite for flying around the world in a luxury private jet as a climate change advocate on a trip to Kenya.
“I fund Climeworks’ direct carbon dioxide removal projects, and the amount of cleanup I pay far exceeds my family’s and my’s carbon footprint,” Gates said.
Gates also pointed out that billions of dollars are spent on innovation in improving and sustaining the climate. “Or does that mean I should stay at home rather than come to Kenya to learn about farming and malaria?” the billionaire asked.
According to the businessman, he does not consider himself exactly a hypocrite because of his active actions against climate issues.
“I am relieved to not only be part of the problem by paying for my carbon footprint offset, but also to be part of the solution with the billions of dollars invested in climate projects,” Gates said.
