Twitter CEO Elon Musk fired a senior Twitter engineer who told him the businessman’s popularity on the social network had plummeted. It has been reported platform game with reference to sources.
It was noted that the incident occurred on February 7, when Musk met with several IT employees working on Twitter to discuss the number of views on the social network.
The billionaire instructed employees to investigate whether their access to the platform was restricted due to a possible problem with the Twitter algorithm. “This is ridiculous. I have over 100 million subscribers and only get tens of thousands of impressions,” the entrepreneur told them during the discussion.
Employees cited Musk’s internal data and a Google Trends chart showing waning public interest in the billionaire.
“When one of the engineers made it clear to Musk that his popularity might be declining due to lack of public attention following his Twitter acquisition, Musk told the employee that he was fired,” the article reads.
As a result, engineers were unable to convince the businessman that it was third-party factors, not Twitter algorithms, that affected the number of times his tweets were viewed.
The social network Twitter officially allowed users watching the broadcasts in chronological order, leaving the algorithms in the broadcast stream.
